Graduate Certificate in Statistics Education
The Graduate Certificate in Statistics Education provides a multimedia package of content for teachers of Chance and Data from grade 5 to grade 12. The content is presented in five sections according to the curriculum: data collection and sampling, data representation, chance and basic probability, data reduction and inference. The multimedia associated with the course include a text (Moore, Statistics: Concepts and Controversies), video extracts (Statistics: Decisions through Data); and a ~CD-ROM with software for probability simulation and data handling, including hypertext documentation to provide background and to link with other materials. Included are sections on motivators for the content area, suggested curriculum, suggested classroom activities, student difficulties discovered in research, and cross-curricular links.

There are three 6-point components to the Graduate Certificate: two focus on grades 5 to 9, and one focuses on grades 10 to 12. It is possible to replace the grade 10 to 12 component with a special project for primary school teachers. The Certificate may be completed anywhere in Australia with students using the multimedia materials and communicating with the Course Co-ordinator by email.
