Professor Harry E. Price

My PhotoHarry E. Price is Chair and Professor of Music Education at the University of Alabama in the United States, where he has the pleasure of working with prospective and current general music teachers, and band and choral directors. He is currently Editor of the Journal of Research in Music Education, serves as a member of the editorial board of Research Studies in Music Education and previously served as Associate Editor of Update: Applications of Research in Music Education. He received his BME and MME from Florida State University, and was a University Fellow at Syracuse University where he received his doctorate. Dr. Price has served on the faculties of the University of South Carolina as Assistant Band Director, and at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where he directed the 320-member Marching Virginians and was a member of the Music Education faculty. He is the editor of Music Education Research: An Anthology from the Journal of Research in Music Education and has published widely more than 40 research papers in journals, including the Journal of Research in Music Education, Research Studies in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education and Journal of Band Research. He has made research presentations at the state, regional, national, and international levels, including the Orient, Scandinavia, and Europe. Dr. Price's principal areas of interest are teaching and rehearsing in the music classroom and ensemble settings, and psychology of music and is keenly interested in fostering music education research internationally.
