Computer lab
T:
The availability of a lab would enable more systematic attention to skills and experience
T: The availability of a lab would enable a reduction in the time required for whole class ICT based
tasks to be completed

Development
P:
It is easy to go too fast. Make haste slowly and bring the staff and community along with you at the same time - avoid making it necessary for staff to pay lip service - this is counter productive.

Editing
O:
Editing (text) is often similar to doing a jigsaw puzzle - when children have the right bits and pieces (letters and words) they then have to move them to fit them together in order to finish the 'puzzle'

Hardware
O:
PCs vary enormously : processors, mice, screens (and screen set-ups) causing significant
compromises to functionality (eg using laptop without mouse to do any graphical work is very
demanding)

ICT and families
T:
The use of ICT in the class program often prompts collaboration within families

ICT based tasks
O:
Primary classes appear to be able to support only one or two ICT based tasks at any point in time.

IT support
T: Many (support staff) are 'from another planet' [Comment: it seems that many teachers are not confident about the ability of some IT support staff to appreciate the educational issues and hence the implications for the management of IT.

PD & Development
P:
Don't overlook the value of peripherals - use of these also requires training
P: Staff turnover, and upgrading of the technology being used ,causes considerable additional work
P: Bring forward the people and the technology as a whole package. [Comment: PD and school development is not some simple additive process; it needs to be well coordinated]

Preparation
T:
be well informed about programs and websites before introducing them into the class program

Reliability, help
T:
ICT cannot be relied upon, need to achieve a reasonable level of independence as an ICT user

Staff engagement with ICT
P:
Staff engagement is a bit of luck: need to support the high-flyers, encourage them to involve
others and encourage everyone to build collegial networks to support their own development

Time
T:
ICT is incredibly time consuming

Upgrading IT &  development
T:
Upgrading hardware and software often makes previous materials, resources, practices
redundant
