In order to make sense of ones observations and to make comparison between observation it is often necessary to categorise and 'catalogue' the observations are they are made and/or analysed. Unless new patterns and relativities emerge it can be useful to draw on frameworks developed by others. This has the added advantage of being able to consider newly acquired data with those data acquired by others elsewhere and at other times using a similar framework.

Using this approach a range of frameworks have been adopted relating to

In addition it has been necessary to adopt particular positions in relation to

  • Learning
  • Teaching and
  • Technology

Rationale for the positions being held: Action Learning has been adopted as the core notion of learning because

  • Action learning is about learning in relation to sources of knowledge including one's own experiences
  • Teaching involves a considerable range of tasks and activities that are intended to provide access to sources of knowledge and to experiences
  • Technology may be used in activities
  • Technology has to be managed by the users since it requires both operation and application
  • Operation and application of  technology requires learning that can be informed by action learning (more...)
