In reviewing this CD Rom on Antarctica, I was very impressed at the simplicity in operating the programme. I feel this is important for children to gain confidence in working on a computer using CD's, in the initial stages. The graphics were not only very colorful and a good representation of the various species but also the students could interact with the software in a very easy and friendly manner. The instructions on the programme were very clear and easy to follow, and the programme was very informative in its information and accurate.

I felt the programme could be used for a variety of levels and each level of student could put the information to use at their level. These levels would be grade 1 through to grade 5. As Australia has its own region in Antarctica and its association with this continent that dates back a long way in the European history of Australia, it is important that student's have some knowledge of this region. As an illustration of this CD's use in a class dealing on the subject of Antarctica, it could be used across the curriculum, as part of a class project that took in Art, Drama, English, Technology.

This software is used at Ravenswood Primary School, and when I was there I saw a number of children use it at this age level grade 3/4. The children used the programme with enthusiasm and after a short time they were able to use it with confidence. The children seem to enjoy the programme and were keen to use it. Their interest and knowledge in this part of the world increased after using this software.
