Question 1
The software program I have selected is called "Coloring Book 3.2" by Jim
Allison. It is found at http://www.gamesdomain.com/tigger/sw-mac1.html#pre It
can be found at this sight, downloaded and opened with "Stuffit Expander".
Question 2
As an exercise in operations, it is a fun and useful program. Children will
enjoy it. It costs $16.00 US to licence it. This is not a great cost but the
program is fairly simple. I would expect it to cost less than what it does. It
is a simple and an easy program with straight forward instructions and simple
opperations. It is very effective in increasing the students operational skills
with a mouse. I think it is worth the $16 for the help it gives students in
computer operations.
Question 3
Acompanying documetation is limited. The instrutions are contained within the
program as are the instrucions for how to register for the program. There were
no wrksheets or extention activities. The instructions and help setups were
useful and made it easy to use. You can however select sertain other immages to
import into the program.
Question 4
This program is basically a painting program. The operater uses the mouse to
select colours and then to colour the sections of the pictures provided. There
are an extensive range of pictures to colour which can be linked into a story.
Each section of the pictures can be coloured and can be coloured over if the
student changes their mind. The entire picture can also be erased of its colour,
if you want to start again.
All operations including selecting colour, adding and changing colour, are
simple and easy for young children to do.
Question 5
Observation: The student observed had no trouble loading the program but in
starting had a smll amount of difficulty. This was overcome quickly with no
prompting from myself. The student enjoyed the game very much and had fun
experimenting with the program. as expected, the student required little
operating skills to carry out the activity and was helped to aquire more skills
in this area.
