Application, Enrolment and Fees

To become a student with the University of Tasmania there are three steps you must take.

1. Apply for the course
2. Accept your offer
3. Enrol in your units

 

Applications

You can apply online. Visit www.utas.edu.au/apply or link using the web sites below:

  • International students (The International Service will handle your application); or

  • Australian and NZ students


  • Please note that if you are a Graduate Certificate of Education student you must re-apply for entry into the Master of Education if you wish to continue your studies.

    To specialise in TESOL, please use the appropriate codes: TESOL - ETF as your specialisation/major.

    Successful applications will be sent a letter of offer via email. Once you have accepted your offer you will need to enrol in each individual unit online via the eStudentCentre.

    Enrolments

    Once you have accepted your offer please find enrolment instructions and study schedules from http://www.educ.utas.edu.au/Enrolments/

    Graduate Certificate in Education
    Students complete 4 x 12.5% units totalling 50%.
    TESOL Specialisation requires 4 x 12.5% TESOL only units.

    Master of Education
    Students complete 8 x 12.5% units totalling 100%
    TESOL Specialisation requires 8 x 12.5% TESOL only units.

    There are 10 TESOL units for you to choose from. There is no recommended sequence/order. The order you choose should reflect your interest and pathway.

  • ESG715: Aspects of Linguistics

  • ESG716: Language, Culture and Society

  • ESG717: Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language

  • ESG718: Curriculum and Syllabus in TESOL

  • ESG719: Curriculum Issues in TESOL

  • ESG720: Special Project in TESOL

  • ESG721: Language and Communication

  • ESG722: Language Learning for Specific Purposes

  • ESH723: TESOL in Practice

  • Fees

    Australian and New Zealand Citizens
    Commonwealth supported places are available within the postgraduate coursework program to Australian and NZ Citizens through the HECS-HELP scheme (NZ citizens will be required to pay these fees upfront).

    International Students are charged differently to Australian and New Zealand Citizens.
