All staff, graduate research students and honours students
are required to submit ethics applications to the Faculty of
Education for review, prior to submission to the Human Research
Ethics Committee (HREC).
The social sciences pro-forma documents are the most appropriate
for most educational research.
The National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007) is the national standard for the conduct of ethical research in Australia. The National Statement is the main source of all the ethical guidelines used by all the HREC of the HREC (Tasmania) Network. Applicants are asked to directly refer to relevant sections of the statement. Please access the statement at: http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/publications/synopses/_files/e72.pdf
The following power-point slides from a presentation by the chair of the HREC (Tasmania) include further guidance points for applicants. HREC PowerPoint slides
