Academic Workload

During 2007 Faculty consultations were held to come to agreement on a revised workload model for academic staff.  These discussions resulted in agreement of a number of notional reference points summarised in the “Report to the Head of School – Academic Workload Summation”.  To assist academic staff members making estimations of their workload against the agreed reference points the Faculty has developed a Workload Calculator tool.  It should be emphasised that the Workload Calculator is in trial phase and should be used in conjunction with review of the “Report to the Head of School – Academic Workload Summation”.  Should you need assistance in operation of the Workload Calculator or have any feedback please contact Peter Thompson on Peter.Thompson@utas.edu.au or phone 6226 7668.
If you have concerns in relation to your work load as a result of changing circumstance in the Faculty, you should first discuss these matters with your Performance Manager to ensure your workload is still consistent with the Faculty Model and appropriate to your needs.  Should you find that you are not satisfied with this consultation, please contact the Dean directly for a meeting via emailing Education.Dean@utas.edu.au.
A date for the Workload Consultation Review meeting is currently being finalised for the third quarter of 2008.
