Teaching and learning strategies

Click on the age group below for teaching and learning strategies that develop key understandings about biodiversity, ecosystems, extinction and human interaction with environments.

5 to 8 years
9 to 11 years
12 to 15 years

Teaching and learning strategies are presented in a consistent order, under these sections:

  1. Thinking about … ideas for introductory activities in which children are ‘tuning in’ to related ideas
  2. Thinking more deeply … activities that lead children to think and inquire in more depth
  3. Collecting our thoughts - ideas for summarising thinking or for reflecting on learning
  4. Taking action - contains examples of children taking action.

Teachers are able to select, link and add to the strategies from this collection to complement their own teaching context and curriculum framework.  These are not intended as units of work.
